I’m sure many of you have heard of, or even use, the social-media phenomenon Pinterest. I’ve just started using it a few weeks ago, and I have already racked up a bunch of pins (images “pinned” to a virtual board)! I’ve found that it is a great tool for designers- it can organize thoughts and ideas in a clear visual format- and it is really fun to spend time discovering new things through the Pinterest network!
Here’s how it works: You can sign up for Pinterest (free!) and you’ll get a confirmation email to join. You can download a “Pin It” button to your bookmarks bar. You can find an image you like while searching the internet. Then you press the “Pin It” button, which will isolate all the images on the web page so you can select the one you want to pin!
You can create many different “Boards”, each with a different theme, so you can make different Inspiration files for certain color palettes, projects, and events! Here’s my “Pretty in Pink” screen shot!
If you are a Pinterest user, or are considering it, I’d love to see what you’re coming up with! My user name is Guillaume Gentet… Happy pinning and happy Friday!
